The Holy Spirit and Power Demonstration!
After reading the book of Luke chapter 4, It reveals that Jesus Christ went into the wilderness, led by the Holy Spirit but before He went into the wilderness, there was no record of any demonstration of Power from or through Him until He finished His fast and returned in Luke 4:14 “Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.”
There is a leading of The Holy Ghost and there is The Demonstration of The Holy Ghost which carries the miracle working power. A lot of believers have the Holy Spirit but lack the capacity to demonstrate His Power. The demonstration of the power of the Holy Ghost comes with an anointing.
“…for He has anointed me…”
The question now is, what has he anointed you for?
- To raise leaders,
- To bring deliverance to the captives,
- To open the eyes of the blind,
- To lead people to their promise land?
“…this day is this scripture fulfilled before your very eyes.”
The demonstration of The Holy Spirit is the revelation of God’s glory in a ministry. Remember the marriage at Cana? John 2:11 “This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.”
The demonstration also give assurance of the presence of the anointing because almost anybody can preach. But preaching with the demonstration of God’s power carries enormous soul-winning ability. When John the Baptist was not sure if Jesus was the Messiah, here was Jesus response to him – Luke 7:22 “Then he told John’s disciples, “Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard—the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.”
If you look at the order of the above statement of Jesus, He started by telling them ” …tell him what you have SEEN and HEARD.”
And He listed it, the blind see, the lame walk, leprosy are cured, deaf hear, the dead are raised back to life – now all this were the demonstration of the Holy Ghost in the ministry of Jesus Christ, then He concluded by saying “..the Good News is being preached to the poor”.
And when Jesus sent His disciples on an evangelism mission, it was full of authorizing them to demonstrate the Power of God.
Matthew 10:8 “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”
So are there people recorded in the bible who had the Holy Spirit but did not demonstrate the Power of God until a later time? Yes!
The disciple of Jesus had Him breath on them and He said receive the Holy Spirit.(John 20:22). (This was ever before the death and resurrection of Christ)
But there was no demonstration of God’s power until the encounter in the upper room.(Acts 2:2-4).
After this experience their ministry never remained the same. So many notable miracles were recorded after the upper room experience.
Apostle Paul received the Holy Spirit after Ananias prayed for him.(Acts 9:17-18 ).
But there was no demonstration until he came back from Arabia after 3 years.(Gal 1:17-18)
Apostle Paul also had the record of performing special miracles by God through him. ( Acts 19:11)
“And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:”
So now it is your turn, the world is waiting for you. So what are you going to do?
You need to ask God with fasting. Remember Jesus pointed to one act of the demonstration of God’s power (casting out demons) as one that is received from God through prayer and fasting Mattew 17:21 “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
If you have The Holy Ghost but lack the demonstration of His Power, you are not fully fit to enter into ministry because you will only demonstrate stagnancy and people will not be inspired.
So right now as you are reading this, and you know you are born again, you need that baptism of His fire, it is called revival. why not ask The Lord to send you His anointing and ask The Holy Spirit to demonstrate His power in your life.
He will answer you and your life shall become a testimony.
James 1:17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. Shalom
